You're
visiting friends...
the meal was great. You're thinking about after dinner drinks and good conversation.
But, suddenly one of the hosts says,
"So, would you like to see our wedding video?"
A cold shiver goes down your back. You become light-headed. Stealing a
glance
at your watch you wonder if it is too early to blurt, "You know, we
have an early
morning tomorrow - uh, maybe we should get going...."
But it's too late. The VCR is cranked. As you pine for the door your
eyes glaze
over with kitschy animations and golden oldies sound track emanating from the
box
that, until this moment, brought you so much pleasure. The endless Mass,
the rambling
Rabbi, the "polite" grins
and twenty five minutes of people dancing who haven't exactly
had a lot of practice. Total predictability.
Nobody intentionally wants to become the Wedding Video Hosts from Hell.
It's just
that most wedding video services are not concerned with story interest or
content.
Their job, as they perceive it, is only to "capture the day",
"get the visuals".
Unfortunately, however, without interesting content, to anyone other
than the newlyweds
and parents (and more than a couple of viewings can be even their limit)
the usual
wedding video is just bad television.

ARTS VIDEO has an entirely different
